Okay, the Final Fantasy I got introduced to isn't even the real Final Fantasy. It was SaGa 2, but it was released in the U.S. as Final Fantasy Legend II. As I mentioned, it was my brother who first got into it. Then my sister, who was bored one day, picked it up and started playing it. Then she showed it to me. The prospect of personalizing my characters' names and doing turn-based battles appealed to me. That game doesn't even show the battles. It's all in text. But it still appealed to me. My brother and my sister got stuck at a certain part very early in the game. It was I who got past that part. Bahahaha. I was also the first one to finish the game. Heh, even my brother's friend haven't finished the game yet *bragbragbragbrag* when I finished it. And when my brother lended the game to his other friends, they started calling him to ask what they should do next to advance. They did it so often that when I answer the phone and recognize my brother's friends, I wearily ask them, "What part are you stuck at?" and answer their questions myself. Bahahahaha. It was Final Fantasy Legend II that made me fail my freshman science class one quarter. I'm not really sure why I'm proud of that. It shows how much of a fan I was, I guess. But I recovered the following quarter. I came across
Final Fantasy VII because my cousin got it for his Playstation. Again,
I finished it before he did. Bahahahaha. Back then, I knew I was hopelessly
behind the Final Fantasy series, having played only Legend II before.
I had no idea that Aeris died in FF VII! Shortly after, I got my own Playstation and my own FF VII, along with FF VIII. FF VIII was the newest installment at the time. One of my favorite memories of college is playing FF VIII for the whole day and then going to watch a play at my community college and then going home to play FF VIII until it's time for bed. Final Fantasy was the only reason I got a PS2. Damn Square released FF X for PS2. I didn't buy the console right away; I waited for the price to drop. My friends would carefully tell me that they bought their PS2 and FF X because they knew it would drive me up the wall. But I finally got them when the PS2 price dropped by $100. And from the looks of it, I'll keep buying any console that Square-Enix chooses to release their next Final Fantasy installment. Except for Final Fantasy Online. Online gaming is where I draw the line. My addiction to GaiaOnline is bad enough xP. |

I typically play the whole
game without a walkthrough or strategy guide. Once I finish the game that
way, I then play it a second time and consult a walkthrough or strategy
guide to get everything in the game. An exception to this was Final Fantasy
VIII. There was just this one part there that I could never figure out
that I finally consulted a walkthrough. I felt so bad afterwards |
